In collaboration with Creative Northland, join us for a special pperformance and Master Talk with Rob Thorne of Taonga Pūoro, Traditional Māori Instruments. Internationally renowned Māori anthropologist, taonga pūoro musician, and award-winning composer, Rob Thorne (Ngāti Tumutumu, Tainui) will give a Master Talk at the Hundertwasser Art Centre with Wairau Māori Art Gallery. Rob has been at the forefront of the revival and renaissance of traditional Māori instruments for over 25 years. In the Master Talk, which takes place during New Zealand Conservation Week, Rob will share his mātauranga about taonga pūoro and their connections to te taiao. Participants will be invited to listen to taonga pūoro being played on the Afforested Roof of the Centre. The Master Talk will include a visit to the Wairau Māori Art Gallery.
